What should I expect?
We’re glad you’ve found us online and we hope that we’ll see you at Christ Church in person sometime soon. We know that visiting a new church can be an intimidating experience, and the web is a great way to “ease into” a place before even setting foot in the door. So let’s try to pave the way for your visit by answering some of the more basic questions.
Where is Christ Church?
Full disclosure: we meet in a karate dojo! Don’t worry. It’s a wonderfully clean facility that’s bright, fresh, sunlit, and actually smells good!
We’re right off of I-40 at its interchange with route 42, in the “Cleveland” area between (and to the south of) Clayton and Garner. We’re on the Clayton side of the interchange, behind the Just Tires and the Cook Out (there’s a light there), at 110 Bratton Dr. (in VCK Dojo, with the red roof). Our “Christ Church” banner is at the street, about 150 yards from the light.
When are your services?
Worship is at 10:30.
Sunday School begins at 9:15, and runs an hour.
When I arrive, where do I go?
We have parking in the front, on the right side, and behind the building. Also, you can park on the street to the left of the building.
Enter either door. Once inside, our greeters will welcome you and happily direct you where you’re trying to go.
Where do I take my kids?
We have a nursery for children that’s for ages two and under. About 20 minutes into the service, 3 year-olds to 1st graders are released from the main service to a special Children's Worship service for them. Of course, you’re also welcome to keep your children in the service with you.
What should I expect in your worship service?
Our worship service is flooded with the Bible and the good news of Jesus that it contains. You’ll hear the Bible read and preached, to the end that you might understand better Jesus, the world, and your life of faith. We’ll also pray, sing, give, confess our faith together (with things like the Apostles’ Creed), and hear the Bible preached. Two Sundays of each month, we celebrate the Lord’s Supper. Dress is casual; you’ll be equally at home in sandals or a sport coat.
What about Sunday School?
It meets at 9:15 a.m. and goes an hour. Afterwards is a casual 15 minutes to fellowship before the worship service. We put a lot of effort into our Sunday School, both for the adults and the children. It’s Biblically rich, and worth one’s while to grow in Christ.
There are classes for grades K-1st, 2nd-4th, and 5th-6th. Those pre-K and under can take advantage of our nursery during this time. Our 7th-12th graders we include in our adult class with our pastor in the main worship area.
Can I stay under the radar, please?
Sure. Rest assured—we won’t single you out. Just enjoy coming in, getting settled, and being kindly greeted by the people around you. We want you to feel at home and welcome, but not overwhelmed, identified, nor asked to commit to anything. It’s your first visit! We understand that, and want you to have the freedom to experience Christ Church in a relaxed, low-key manner.
We hope we’ll see you here soon . . . and that you’ll experience the joy of our Savior, feel your soul satisfied by His Word and gospel, and feel at home amid a laid-back, friendly people who understand we’re “not all that,” but nevertheless are greatly loved by Jesus.
